Wow! Same sex couple carry the same baby?!

Now, that is certainly an eye catching headline. How on earth can a same sex (two women) couple carry the same baby? I wondered the same, although I had an idea…. Using a sperm donor, their doctors fertilized the embryo through the use of a new technology called an INVOcell inside the body of one of the mothers. Five days later, when the embryos were formed, the INVOcell was removed from the “first” mother, and one healthy embryo was transferred to the womb of the other mother. Nine months later, baby boy Stetson was born. Yes, folks, the future is upon us. Read all about it here.

Exciting News Re Egg and Embryo Freezing!

I was thrilled to see great news out of Illinois this week.  Insurers are now required to cover the costs of embryo and egg freezing for cancer patients.  Kudos to all of those who have worked hard to make this a reality.  Illinois is only the fourth state to pass such a law, and it will make a difference to so many.  Only 46 more states to go!  You can learn more about it here:
